MIR offers many educational and fun events throughout the school year to support parent education and build a closer community.

MIR Spring Gala Back to School Night
This is an opportunity for parents to meet other parents as well as get to know the staff, the Board of Trustees, and the PTM Executive Committee. MIR and PTM cover what to expect during the school year and the calendar of events.

Parent Orientation
MIR holds an orientation by invitation for new families to help familiarize them with the school and Montessori philosophy. Each class holds an orientation as well. This is an opportunity for parents to meet the other parents from the class, hear the plans for the year, and understand expectations of students and parents.

Parent Education Nights
MIR provides informative meetings and workshops to help parents on topics ranging from parenting to education. Five meetings are held a year, and childcare is provided for enrolled students. Presenters may include the Head of the School, teachers, guest speakers, alumni, and MIR students. Parent attendance at two or more of these evenings is expected.

Parent-Child Night
Usually held in spring, students lead parents through the classroom and show examples of their work and ways in which they use the class materials. This is one of the children's favorite events of the year.

Journey & Discovery
This semi-annual event lets you be the student for the day. Parents journey through the entire Montessori curriculum from 18 months to 18 years. They then discover the curriculum for ages 18 months to 6th grade or 1st grade through 12th grade (their choice) in an interactive, hands-on manner. This event is a MUST for all parents who want to understand what a Montessori education offers their child. Learn more.

Camp Montessori
Twice a year staff, parents and students camp overnight under the trees of the MIR campus. Everyone joins around the campfire for songs, stories, and fun.

Halloween and Spring Carnivals
Each fall and spring families gather to enjoy a carnival complete with game booths, rides, costume parade (fall), art exhibition (spring), and more.

Holiday Sing
Each year families and friends are treated to singing and dancing performed by all MIR students, including the tiny toddlers. The performance fills the University of Redlands Memorial Chapel to capacity.

Annual Spring Gala & Auction
This fundraising event involves an evening of food, entertainment, and live and silent auctions. Each class donates a handmade item for the live auction and community/regional businesses donate silent auction items. Learn more.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Conferences are held twice a year. Conferences are parents' opportunity to meet with their child's teachers one-on-one to discuss their progress and development.
